12.13.07 I just ate two weeks.

My mom is sweet and likes to do sweet things. This includes giving me an Advent Calendar. You know, Advent Calendar--the thing that has little windows that you pop open on days before Christmas. Usually, inside are little chocolates in holiday-inspired shapes.

Well, you know, I've been busy.

So, today, I caught up and ate fourteen days of Christmas. Last Tuesday was a stocking. Last Saturday was a teddy bear wearing a santa hat.

Next Friday will be a gut and it will be mine.

I haven't seen an Advent calendar in years! My mother used to get me one every year, too. I don't know if they make better ones in Wisconsin (which they probably don't, because I'm sure that like everything else those things are nationally distributed. Or at the very least regionally), but the ones I got always had crumbly, waxy, horrible tasting chocolate.

You didn't notice how bad the chocolate was if you only ate one, the one you're supposed to eat on the day you were supposed to eat it. But it you ate more than one you could tell.

Anyway. You just made me smile, thinking about Advent calendars and bad chocolate and what Christmas was like when we were all kids and life was magical because you had a giant cardboard calendar with candy in it and presents under a fantastically decorated tree and Charlie Brown Christmas and all that.
