10.21.08 Bed Stories

There's this great line in the this bad movie called "Smart People". Yes, I watched it for Sarah Jessica Parker. Yes, I thought it was going to be one of those independents that much to the like of Me and You and Everyone We know(POOP!) would be pure brilliance. But it ended up being one of those movies to the like of, well, a Vin Diesel movie.

Anyway, the line comes from one of the neuritic young republic characters who says this to her crazy out of mental normalcy uncle when she sees that his room is a mess and his bed is unmade: "You should always make your bed in the morning. It sets the tone of the day."

This was the only good part of the movie.

Anyway again, when I watched that I was all: "Huh... I wonder if that's true. I should try that!" Because, well, when I was fifteen I VOWED never to make my bed again unless I felt like or it or if I had company and seeing that I don't feel like it that often and, well, my company has seen my unmade bed clearly these rules don't work.

So since Friday I have been making my bed after I get up and I like it.

I just thought you'd all like to know: The tone of the day hasn't changed, but I don't nap as much.

I love a made bed. Only takes a minute, goes a long way toward keeping the room clean, keeps the dog out of the sheets. When I lived alone I made my bed every morning. But I also like going to the dentist for my twice annual teeth cleaning, so maybe I'm just a square.

If I didn't get a chance to make my bed earlier in the day, I will make it right before I go to bed, because I hate getting into an unmade bed. Neurotic? Perhaps!

Agreed. The movie wasn't so great.

I make my bed every day for two reasons: one, it gives my room a nice finish and two, my dog likes to sleep on my bed when i'm at work so this way his hair is on the comforter which is easy to vacuum, compared to vacuuming a sheet!?!

It doesn't change the tone of my day if I don't make it either.

I'm a bed maker. It makes me feel like the day has really started. And it keeps the cat on top of the bedspread and out of the sheets. Clearly, Byron, you just need a pet! That'll make you make your bed!

I grew up making my bed every morning. And then, somewhere along the way (probably in college), I stopped. Now I only make it if company is coming over.

Remember, kids: an unmade bed = less time to get IN bed!
